Going Away Party
For the past two years I have worked as an Account Manager at Brandthropology. On Friday, my office had a going away party for me and when I arrived, everyone was wearing Rosie headbands. They also gave me a framed picture (see above) of myself as Rosie the Riveter. It was literally the greatest present I’ve ever received. I’m going to miss my “work family” but...

My Interview with Vermont's Only Female Mayor
This past weekend I had the privilege of meeting with Liz Gamache, the newly elected Mayor of St. Albans. When I sat down with her I asked her a series of questions. Here are the answers:
Q: How do you balance your family, job at Vermont Electrical Coop and new position as Mayor?
A: “I have a really supportive family. I couldn’t do it without them. Everyone is...

Princess Jasmine...
I watched Disney’s Aladdin this weekend and completely forgot how slutty Jasmines outfit was.
Not only is she “sexed up” but she isn’t allowed to leave the castle, have a thought of her own or pick who she wants to marry. I felt bad for her. I’m happy she escaped and was ultimately allowed to think for herself. That’s...

Way to Fly Back in Time 50 Years RyanAir

This article is great and really expresses how a lot of us in the industry feel about not only RyanAir’s ads but advertising in this style in general. Does sex really sell? When is it too much?

An Interesting Conversation With A Kazakhstani
Last night, I was out with some co-workers and we started talking about the gift of flowers. One of our interns, who is from Kazakhstan chimes in and says, “in Kazakhstan, flowers are given to women all the time, no matter what the occasion.” The conversation only got better from there. He then proceeded to tell us about the “norm” in Kazakhstan.
“A woman’s...
A Very Sexist Super Bowl
Like everyone else, I watched the Super Bowl on Sunday. Like everyone else, I was excited to see the commercials. Unlike everyone else, I was annoyed by the sexist ads that showed up almost every other commercial. So, in case you don’t know what I’m talking about — or can’t remember the ads here is a recap.

You Are Not Crazy...
My friend recently shared an article with me called, “A message to women from a man: You are not crazy” and it was one of the most interesting things I have ever read. The author, Yashar (a man) talks about a term called “gaslighting.”
Gaslighting is a term, often used by mental health professionals (I am not one), to describe manipulative behavior used to confuse people...

Check please!
Tonight I went to the olive garden with my boyfriend. At the end of our meal I paid and when the server came back he put the check book in front of derek. After he left we both started laughing because he assumed the man paid for the meal… And that the man who paid for it was named Corey. What he didn’t know was that this girl was the big spender! It’s little things like that...

It's all who you know...
My dad sat me down and asked me the question that all twenty-somethings dread, where do you see yourself in five years? My response, ugh… I don’t know, proved to be the wrong answer. Shocking!
He proceeded to tell me that one of his client’s had worked in New York City at “some marketing firm” and that I should talk to her. He thought she might have some advice for...
